Das Projekt
The realisation
Under Antje’s auspices as many as 14 torsos have been moulded between February and May 2009. They are the imprints of 14 women, each of different age, who were willing to participate. It is guaranteed that the torsos are anonymous and do not allow any conclusion who might have been the model.
The torsos are now in the hands of artist in Schleswig-Holstein and are being covered with paint or treated otherwise. The artists are free to do with them what they want. What counts is that the artists find a way of handling the topic breast cancer. When ready the final torsos are being mounted on pedestals so they can be exhibited.
The following artists take part in the project:
Dr. Wolfgang Barchasch, Flensburg
Britta Busch, Bad Segeberg ( www.galerie-busch.de)
Barbara Engel, Lübeck ( www.barbaraengel.de)
Ute-Elisabeth Herwig, Barnitz ( www.uteelisabethherwig.de)

Editha Lennartz-Finger, Bad Segeberg

The torsos will be presented on a travelling exhibition in order to bring to mind the disease as such, its treatment methods and the projects related to breast health in Schleswig-Holstein but also in order to pledge for an open conduct with the disease. Medical lectures on breast cancer complete the information. The exhibition will start in the town hall of Kiel on 7th October 2009. Its last stop will be Bad Segeberg where the torsos will be sold by auction on 12th December 2009. Half of the proceeds will be given to the artists, the other half is a donation for the research of breast cancer.
